Swiss Press Release : IWWF Relocates to Lausanne

Closer to the Olympic Family

The International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation has relocated from the United Kingdom to Switzerland, a strategic move designed to strengthen its ties with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the wider Olympic family.

Recognised by the IOC as the global governing body for towed water sports, IWWF represents athletes and national federations worldwide. The relocation to Lausanne, Switzerland, home to the IOC and more than 50 international sports federations, positions IWWF at the centre of international sport and supports its long-term ambition to secure inclusion in the Summer Olympic Games in Brisbane 2032.

This complex international process was supported by our Swiss Lawyer Julien Gafner of Resolution Legal Partners, Lausanne. As a former Wakeboard Junior European Champion, Julien Gafner understands the values of our Sport and is an esteemed partner of the IWWF.

Jose Antonio Perez Priego, President of IWWF, said:
“This relocation is a bold step towards the future of our sport. Lausanne is the centre of the Olympic movement, and being here strengthens our ability to advocate for waterski and wakeboard at the highest level. It positions us to build stronger partnerships and pursue our goal of Olympic inclusion.”

Louis Polome, Secretary General of IWWF, added:
“This move marks an exciting new chapter for IWWF. Being based in Switzerland brings us closer to the organisations that shape global sport and provides our athletes with greater resources and opportunities to compete at the highest level, including future Olympic Games.”

Peter Frei, Treasurer of IWWF and Honorary President od the Swiss Waterski and Wake Federation, added:
"The International Water Ski Federation was created 80 years ago in Geneva and I am happy that it has returned to its country of origin. Lausanne is a natural centre for international sport where important lobbying takes place and we look forward to working closely with all the International Sports Organisations present on site. »
